From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +104.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest lithium-ion accumulator supplying countries in the European Union were Poland ($X), Germany ($X) and Hungary ($X), together comprising 81% of total exports. The Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Austria and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 12%.

Spain, with a CAGR of +76.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -29.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 10%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per unit), while Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, Germany (X units) represented the largest importer of lithium-ion accumulators, constituting 32% of total imports. The Czech Republic (X units) held a 10% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Spain (9.8%), France (9.5%), Poland (9.1%), Italy (6.9%) and the Netherlands (5.2%).

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to lithium-ion accumulator imports into Germany stood at +57.5%. At the same time, the Czech Republic (+71.7%), Italy (+68.4%), France (+64.4%), Spain (+52.3%), Poland (+33.8%) and the Netherlands (+29.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Czech Republic emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +71.7% from 2012-2021. In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported lithium-ion accumulators in the European Union, comprising 40% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 6.6% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 6.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany amounted to +38.1%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (+47.0% per year) and the Netherlands (+33.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2021, with a decrease of -14.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the import price increased by 8.4%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
