Italy (X units) held a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Germany (15%) and Belgium (7%). The following exporters - Spain (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) - each recorded a 4% share of total exports.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and Belgium ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 88% share of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Belgium, with a CAGR of +37.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2021, with a decrease of -13.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per unit), while the Netherlands ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+7.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in the EU
After two years of decline, overseas purchases of machines for preparing, weaving and knitting textiles increased by 22% to X units in 2021. Total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 69%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2021, which is down by -1.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the import price increased by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while Belgium ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
