Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, monophenols exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Belgium (X tons) was the main exporter of monophenols, mixing up 70% of total exports. Finland (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Germany (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons). All these countries together held near 24% share of total exports. Italy (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to monophenols exports from Belgium stood at +1.9%. At the same time, Italy (+3.2%) and the Netherlands (+2.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Italy emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +3.2% from 2012-2021. Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. In value terms, Belgium ($X) remains the largest monophenols supplier in the European Union, comprising 60% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Finland, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Belgium was relatively modest. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (-2.1% per year) and Finland (-3.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 45% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a slight decline. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while Finland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (-1.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in the EU
In 2021, overseas purchases of monophenols increased by 20% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, monophenols imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The countries with the highest levels of monophenols imports in 2021 were the Netherlands (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Belgium (X tons), together accounting for 81% of total import. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons), mixing up a 6.9% share of total imports. The following importers - Italy (X tons), France (X tons) and Spain (X tons) - together made up 7.1% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +12.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest monophenols importing markets in the European Union were the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and Belgium ($X), with a combined 75% share of total imports. Poland, France, Italy and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 18%.
Among the main importing countries, Spain, with a CAGR of +8.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a noticeable slump. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (-0.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
