In 2021, overseas purchases of monophenols increased by 20% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, monophenols imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

The countries with the highest levels of monophenols imports in 2021 were the Netherlands (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Belgium (X tons), together accounting for 81% of total import. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons), mixing up a 6.9% share of total imports. The following importers - Italy (X tons), France (X tons) and Spain (X tons) - together made up 7.1% of total imports.

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a noticeable slump. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
