Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
The biggest shipments were from Italy (X units), Slovenia (X units) and Croatia (X units), together resulting at 72% of total export. Poland (X units) ranks next in terms of the total exports with an 8.2% share, followed by Romania (5.5%). Portugal (X units) and Bulgaria (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Italy (with a CAGR of +23.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Croatia ($X) remains the largest mould for glass supplier in the European Union, comprising 39% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Romania, with a 7.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Croatia amounted to +10.1%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (+2.1% per year) and Romania (+12.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 2.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a deep contraction. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Croatia ($X per unit), while Slovenia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Croatia (-0.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in the EU
In 2021, overseas purchases of moulds for glass increased by 13% to X units, rising for the third year in a row after three years of decline. Over the period under review, imports posted a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 115% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, mould for glass imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Romania (X units), followed by Germany (X units), France (X units), Italy (X units), Portugal (X units), Bulgaria (X units), Poland (X units), Hungary (X units), Croatia (X units) and Spain (X units) represented the major importers of moulds for glass, together achieving 85% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Croatia (with a CAGR of +36.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and France ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 39% of total imports. Poland, Croatia, Spain, Romania, Portugal, Bulgaria and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 34%.
Among the main importing countries, Croatia, with a CAGR of +24.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, rising by 4.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the import price increased by 91%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while Romania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+3.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
