In 2022, mushroom and truffle exports in the European Union dropped to X tons, with a decrease of -11.5% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 9.6% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, mushroom and truffle exports reduced dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 20% against the previous year. Poland represented the largest exporter of mushrooms and truffles in the European Union, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 57% of total exports in 2022. From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Poland totaled +3.5%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (-2.4% per year) and Ireland (-1.1% per year).

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -21.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 9.4% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, the largest mushroom and truffle importing markets in the European Union were Germany ($X), France ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 55% share of total imports. Belgium, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, Austria, Greece, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Romania and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.
