The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -13.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 24%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified exports dropped sharply to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 27% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the largest non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified supplier in the European Union, comprising 53% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Spain ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Austria, with a 5.9% share.

In 2022, overseas purchases of non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified decreased by -8.5% to X tons for the first time since 2015, thus ending a six-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 9.8%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified imports shrank to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

Germany (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by France (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Austria (X tons). All these countries together took near 42% share of total imports. Belgium (X tons), Portugal (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Poland (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Spain (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into the Netherlands increased at an average annual rate of +8.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Romania (+11.6%), Austria (+8.5%), Portugal (+7.2%), Spain (+6.4%), Italy (+3.4%), Poland (+1.5%), France (+1.5%) and Sweden (+1.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +11.6% from 2012-2022. Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Belgium (-3.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the Netherlands (+12 p.p.) and Austria (+2.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of France (-2.7 p.p.), Belgium (-4 p.p.) and Germany (-7.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
