In 2022, non-electric industrial furnace exports in the European Union rose markedly to X units, increasing by 8.5% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a pronounced reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 27%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-electric industrial furnace exports rose slightly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Italy was the main exporter of non-electric industrial or laboratory furnaces and ovens in the European Union, with the volume of exports amounting to X units, which was near 49% of total exports in 2022. Germany (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Spain (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and Portugal (X units). All these countries together held approx. 35% share of total exports. The following exporters - the Czech Republic (X units) and Poland (X units) - together made up 7.9% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-electric industrial furnace exports from Italy stood at -1.1%. At the same time, Poland (+3.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +3.7% from 2012-2022. Portugal and the Netherlands experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Spain (-1.2%), the Czech Republic (-2.3%) and Germany (-5.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, the largest non-electric industrial furnace supplying countries in the European Union were Italy ($X), Germany ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), together comprising 73% of total exports. These countries were followed by Spain, the Czech Republic, Poland and Portugal, which together accounted for a further 17%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +6.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -6.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 11% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while Portugal ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+2.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of non-electric industrial or laboratory furnaces and ovens imported in the European Union fell modestly to X units, shrinking by -3.8% on the year before. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 60%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-electric industrial furnace imports surged to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +60.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 67%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2022, the Netherlands (X units), distantly followed by Spain (X units), France (X units) and Poland (X units) were the major importers of non-electric industrial or laboratory furnaces and ovens, together achieving 72% of total imports. Bulgaria (X units), Hungary (X units), Romania (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Germany (X units), Portugal (X units), Italy (X units), Greece (X units) and Belgium (X units) took a minor share of total imports.
