The EU non-household fan market declined significantly to $X in 2022, which is down by -31.9% against the previous year. The total consumption indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 34%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2022, production growth remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of non-household ventilation fans, when their volume decreased by -47.1% to X units. In general, exports continue to indicate a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2021, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, non-household fan exports shrank remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 17% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Germany (X units) was the main exporter of non-household ventilation fans, making up 41% of total exports. Italy (X units) held a 14% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Hungary (14%), Slovenia (6.5%) and the Netherlands (6.2%). The following exporters - Poland (X units) and Slovakia (X units) - each accounted for a 6.1% share of total exports.

Exports from Germany decreased at an average annual rate of -6.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Slovakia (+24.6%), Slovenia (+3.5%), the Netherlands (+2.8%), Hungary (+2.6%) and Poland (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Slovakia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +24.6% from 2012-2022. Italy experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Hungary (+5.8 p.p.), Italy (+3.1 p.p.), Slovenia (+3 p.p.), the Netherlands (+2.7 p.p.) and Slovakia (+2.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Germany (-15.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest non-household fan supplier in the European Union, comprising 49% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 5.2% share.

In Germany, non-household fan exports decreased by an average annual rate of -3.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Italy (+0.8% per year) and the Netherlands (-1.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2022, falling by -1.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 12%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while Slovakia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovenia (+3.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Germany (X units) was the largest importer of non-household ventilation fans, achieving 32% of total imports. Italy (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Poland (X units), the Netherlands (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Hungary (X units) and Spain (X units). All these countries together held near 42% share of total imports. The following importers - France (X units), Portugal (X units), Romania (X units), Slovakia (X units), Austria (X units) and Sweden (X units) - together made up 17% of total imports.

Imports into Germany decreased at an average annual rate of -2.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Portugal (+13.6%), Hungary (+11.0%), Spain (+7.0%), Poland (+6.7%), Romania (+5.3%), Slovakia (+3.7%) and Austria (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Portugal emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +13.6% from 2012-2022. The Czech Republic experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Italy (-2.0%), Sweden (-2.4%), France (-3.1%) and the Netherlands (-3.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Poland, Hungary, Spain and Portugal increased by +4.2, +4.1, +2.6 and +2.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported non-household ventilation fans in the European Union, comprising 25% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 9.7% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with an 8.8% share.

In Germany, non-household fan imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Italy (-1.8% per year) and France (-1.4% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 7.4% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
