The Netherlands represented the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which recorded 64% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Germany (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Italy (X tons), together committing a 25% share of total exports. The following exporters - France (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Portugal (X tons) - together made up 7% of total exports.
Exports from the Netherlands increased at an average annual rate of +25.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Poland (+34.1%), Portugal (+27.4%), Spain (+4.8%) and France (+3.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +34.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Germany (-6.5%) and Italy (-16.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Netherlands (+53 p.p.) and Poland (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Germany and Italy saw its share reduced by -17.7% and -34% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and Spain ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together comprising 61% of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, France, Portugal and Poland, which together accounted for a further 31%.
Poland, with a CAGR of +44.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, surging by 40% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the export price increased by 50%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Portugal (+10.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in the EU
In 2021, the amount of numerically controlled drilling machines for working metal imported in the European Union skyrocketed to X tons, with an increase of 302% against the year before. In general, imports posted prominent growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, numerically controlled drilling machine imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible slump. In terms of the main importing countries, the Netherlands, with a CAGR of +13.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, shrinking by -69.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price faced a abrupt setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 109% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (-1.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
