The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2021, reducing by -21.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the export price increased by 19% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (-4.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

For the third year in a row, the European Union recorded growth in overseas purchases of objective lenses for cameras, projectors or photographic enlargers or reducers, which increased by 83% to X units in 2021. In general, imports enjoyed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 89% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

At the same time, Hungary (+54.3%), Romania (+34.4%), Poland (+34.1%), the Czech Republic (+26.2%), Spain (+16.3%), Sweden (+12.3%), Germany (+12.3%), France (+8.8%), Belgium (+4.7%) and Italy (+3.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +54.3% from 2012-2021. While the share of the Netherlands (+7.1 p.p.), Poland (+4.8 p.p.), Hungary (+3.4 p.p.) and the Czech Republic (+1.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Belgium (-2.6 p.p.), France (-2.9 p.p.), Germany (-4.6 p.p.) and Italy (-5.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest objective lens importing markets in the European Union were Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and France ($X), with a combined 63% share of total imports. Poland, Sweden, Hungary, Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, Romania and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 28%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Hungary, with a CAGR of +37.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, shrinking by -31% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a abrupt setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
