The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 93% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
Exports by Country
Finland was the major exporting country with an export of about X tons, which recorded 36% of total exports. The Netherlands (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Poland (X tons), Germany (X tons) and France (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 52% share of total exports. Latvia (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Latvia (with a CAGR of +161.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X) emerged as the largest oxides of boron supplier in the European Union, comprising 37% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany stood at +10.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Netherlands (+5.8% per year) and Poland (+25.8% per year).

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 26%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, oxides of boron imports reached $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last decade.
