In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, rising by 6.9% against the previous year. Export price indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, gouges and chisels export price increased by +93.1% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 40%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +42.1% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 32%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then shrank notably in the following year.

In 2022, Belgium (X tons), Germany (X tons), France (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Poland (X tons) was the main importer of planes, chisels and gouges for working wood in the European Union, achieving 63% of total import. Italy (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Spain (X tons). All these countries together held near 11% share of total imports. Ireland (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Romania (X tons), Austria (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the import price increased by 16%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2021, and then reduced slightly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
