The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 62% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Germany was the main exporting country with an export of about X units, which amounted to 49% of total exports. France (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Italy (X units) and Belgium (X units). All these countries together held approx. 27% share of total exports. The Netherlands (X units), Denmark (X units), Hungary (X units), Poland (X units), Spain (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) held a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to positive displacement pump exports from Germany stood at +3.3%. In 2021, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -9.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a mild increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 61% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, overseas purchases of positive displacement pumps and hand pumps decreased by -6.5% to X units for the first time since 2011, thus ending a nine-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2020, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, positive displacement pump imports expanded significantly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 42%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Germany (X units), distantly followed by Hungary (X units), Belgium (X units), France (X units), Italy (X units), Spain (X units), Austria (X units) and Poland (X units) represented the main importers of positive displacement pumps and hand pumps, together achieving 82% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of +39.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a mild setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the import price increased by 22% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
