In value terms, potato harvester exports declined significantly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 19% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

The Netherlands was the key exporting country with an export of about X tons, which recorded 44% of total exports. Germany (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Belgium (X tons) and Poland (X tons). All these countries together took near 50% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +21.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest potato harvester supplier in the European Union, comprising 56% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belgium ($X), with a 24% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 7.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Germany totaled +1.5%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belgium (+1.3% per year) and the Netherlands (+10.3% per year).

In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -27.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 24% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 39%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, potato harvester imports dropped remarkably to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Moreover, Latvia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +18.3% from 2012-2022. Poland experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the Netherlands (-3.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of France, Belgium, Denmark and Hungary increased by +8, +4.1, +2.4 and +1.5 percentage points, respectively. In value terms, France ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Belgium ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 59% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Denmark, Poland, Sweden, Germany, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Latvia and Romania, which together accounted for a further 35%.

Latvia, with a CAGR of +20.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -8.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 9.5%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
