Estonia (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Germany (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Poland (X units), Lithuania (X units), Belgium (X units), Italy (X units), Croatia (X units), Slovenia (X units), Sweden (X units) and Romania (X units) represented roughly 81% of total exports in 2022.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Croatia (with a CAGR of +20.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest prefabricated buildings supplying countries in the European Union were the Netherlands ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Estonia ($X), together comprising 32% of total exports. Italy, Poland, Germany, Lithuania, Belgium, Slovenia, Croatia, Sweden and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 47%.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while Romania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, imports of prefabricated buildings in the European Union totaled X units, remaining stable against the year before. Total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +35.3% against 2016 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 34%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2022, Germany (X units), distantly followed by France (X units), Sweden (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Italy (X units) and Austria (X units) were the key importers of prefabricated buildings, together constituting 66% of total imports. Denmark (X units), Poland (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Hungary (X units), Ireland (X units), Belgium (X units) and Slovenia (X units) held a minor share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to prefabricated buildings imports into Germany stood at +6.3%. At the same time, Ireland (+22.9%), Sweden (+22.3%), Denmark (+15.0%), Hungary (+13.9%), the Netherlands (+10.6%), Slovenia (+8.7%), Poland (+7.3%), the Czech Republic (+6.7%) and Italy (+5.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ireland emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +22.9% from 2012-2022. France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Austria (-1.5%) and Belgium (-4.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Sweden (+7.7 p.p.), the Netherlands (+2.5 p.p.), Denmark (+2.4 p.p.) and Ireland (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Belgium, Austria and France saw its share reduced by -3.7%, -5.3% and -8.9% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported prefabricated buildings in the European Union, comprising 27% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Sweden, with a 9.9% share.
In Germany, prefabricated buildings imports increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: France (+3.2% per year) and Sweden (+21.6% per year).
