Poland (X tons) and Germany (X tons) represented roughly 49% of total exports in 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 12% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, preserved swine meat imports expanded slightly to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 12%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

France (X tons) and Germany (X tons) represented roughly 36% of total imports in 2021. Belgium (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 9.6% share, followed by Italy (7.8%), Denmark (6.5%) and Hungary (4.8%). The following importers - Poland (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Spain (X tons), Slovakia (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Romania (X tons) - together made up 23% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Romania (with a CAGR of +19.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($X), Germany ($X) and Belgium ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 51% of total imports. Denmark, Italy, Hungary, Poland, the Netherlands, Spain, Romania, Austria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.
Romania, with a CAGR of +20.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -1.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 10%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
