Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 44%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, preserved turkey exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
The shipments of the five major exporters of prepared or preserved meat or offal of turkeys, namely Germany, Poland, Hungary, Spain and Belgium, represented more than two-thirds of total export. It was distantly followed by France (X tons) and Italy (X tons), together comprising an 11% share of total exports. Ireland (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Hungary (with a CAGR of +8.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest preserved turkey supplying countries in the European Union were Germany ($X), Belgium ($X) and Poland ($X), together comprising 50% of total exports. Hungary, Spain, France, Ireland and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 38%.
Hungary, with a CAGR of +8.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, surging by 7.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 11%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

After three years of decline, purchases abroad of prepared or preserved meat or offal of turkeys increased by 9% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a deep slump. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Belgium (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Romania (X tons) and Spain (X tons). All these countries together took near 17% share of total imports. Austria (X tons), Ireland (X tons), Italy (X tons), Poland (X tons), Portugal (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +29.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 38% share of total imports. Belgium, Ireland, Italy, Hungary, Austria, Spain, Romania, Portugal, Poland and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 47%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +27.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 7.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
