By contrast, Denmark (-1.2%), the Czech Republic (-6.6%), Spain (-7.8%), Italy (-8.9%), Austria (-12.8%), France (-20.4%) and Belgium (-36.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Germany (+12 p.p.), Poland (+5.5 p.p.), Italy (+4.2 p.p.), Greece (+4 p.p.), the Czech Republic (+3.8 p.p.), the Netherlands (+2.2 p.p.), Spain (+1.7 p.p.), Denmark (+1.7 p.p.) and Romania (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while France and Belgium saw its share reduced by -6.3% and -34.4% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest printing components supplier in the European Union, comprising 40% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with a 6.5% share.

Portugal, with a CAGR of +1.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, leveling off at the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 32% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
