Aircraft Propeller Market Size in the EU
After four years of growth, the EU aircraft propeller market decreased by -0.2% to $X in 2022. The total consumption indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption increased by +23.7% against 2016 indices. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

In value terms, aircraft propeller production expanded rapidly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, showed a mild contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the production volume increased by 19%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports in the EU
In 2022, aircraft propeller exports in the European Union dropped slightly to X tons, waning by -2.9% against the previous year. Overall, exports showed a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 30% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, aircraft propeller exports reduced to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 30%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Austria was the main exporter of propellers and rotors for civil non-powered aircraft, helicopters and aeroplanes in the European Union, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was near 58% of total exports in 2022. France (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 13% share, followed by Germany (11%). The Netherlands (X tons), Spain (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Denmark (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to aircraft propeller exports from Austria stood at -6.9%. At the same time, Denmark (+9.6%), Germany (+4.8%), France (+4.7%) and the Czech Republic (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Denmark emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +9.6% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the Netherlands (-9.5%) and Spain (-22.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of France (+9.1 p.p.), Germany (+7.3 p.p.) and Denmark (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Spain (-14.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, France ($X) remains the largest aircraft propeller supplier in the European Union, comprising 38% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Austria ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 14% share.
In France, aircraft propeller exports expanded at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Austria (-3.8% per year) and Germany (+4.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, dropping by -9.4% against the previous year. Export price indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, aircraft propeller export price increased by +84.1% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 32%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Denmark ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+8.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in the EU
In 2022, imports of propellers and rotors for civil non-powered aircraft, helicopters and aeroplanes in the European Union declined to X tons, which is down by -8.4% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, aircraft propeller imports reduced to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 28%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
France represented the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which amounted to 32% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Spain (X tons), Germany (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Poland (X tons), together achieving a 43% share of total imports. The following importers - Ireland (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Slovakia (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Portugal (X tons) and Denmark (X tons) - together made up 18% of total imports.
Imports into France increased at an average annual rate of +11.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Ireland (+51.1%), Portugal (+12.4%), Belgium (+8.5%), Spain (+5.3%), Germany (+5.2%), Slovakia (+1.7%) and the Netherlands (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ireland emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +51.1% from 2012-2022. The Czech Republic and Poland experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Sweden (-7.7%) and Denmark (-17.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of France, Spain, Germany and Ireland increased by +21, +6.2, +5 and +4.1 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, France ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Poland ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 58% of total imports. Spain, Germany, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Ireland, Belgium, Sweden, Slovakia and Denmark lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.
Ireland, with a CAGR of +37.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 40%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Denmark ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Portugal (+13.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
