In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the largest quinones supplier in the European Union, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Austria ($X), with a 9.2% share of total exports. It was followed by Belgium, with an 8.8% share.
In the Netherlands, quinones exports expanded at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Austria (+12.5% per year) and Belgium (-12.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, leveling off at the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 71%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while Estonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+5.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2022, imports of quinones in the European Union shrank to X tons, falling by -9.9% on the year before. In general, imports saw a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, quinones imports fell modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 13%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The countries with the highest levels of quinones imports in 2022 were Belgium (X tons), Germany (X tons), Spain (X tons), Austria (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Italy (X tons), Finland (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Poland (X tons) and France (X tons), together resulting at 97% of total import.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of +53.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Belgium ($X), Germany ($X) and Sweden ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 47% share of total imports. Austria, Italy, Hungary, Finland, the Netherlands, France, Spain and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 46%.
Among the main importing countries, Hungary, with a CAGR of +38.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, rising by 5.6% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.1%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+17.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
