The average rabbit meat yield shrank modestly to X kg per head in 2022, dropping by -4.8% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, the yield continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the yield increased by 11%. The level of yield peaked at X kg per head in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the yield failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, exports saw a slight decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, rabbit meat exports dropped remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 15%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Spain (X tons), distantly followed by Hungary (X tons), France (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Italy (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the largest exporters of rabbit or hare meat, together creating 93% of total exports. Poland (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, rabbit meat imports in the European Union contracted to X tons, declining by -12% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports saw a perceptible decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 5.7% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
