In 2021, after five years of decline, there was significant growth in the EU radar apparatus market, when its value increased by 7.3% to $X. In value terms, radar apparatus exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Germany (X tons) was the key exporter of radar apparatus, creating 36% of total exports. Hungary (X tons) held an 18% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by France (9.2%), Belgium (6.1%), the Netherlands (5.7%), Italy (5.4%) and Spain (4.8%).

Exports from Germany increased at an average annual rate of +10.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Hungary (+20.2%), Italy (+11.7%), Belgium (+10.4%), France (+8.6%), the Netherlands (+4.1%) and Spain (+2.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +20.2% from 2012-2021. While the share of Hungary (+9.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of the Netherlands (-3.6 p.p.) and Spain (-4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X), France ($X) and Hungary ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 67% share of total exports.

Hungary, with a CAGR of +31.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 13% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+9.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the amount of radar apparatus imported in the European Union skyrocketed to X tons, growing by 28% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports showed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 47%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, radar apparatus imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 36%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Germany (X tons), distantly followed by the Netherlands (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Belgium (X tons), France (X tons), Slovakia (X tons), Italy (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Spain (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) were the main importers of radar apparatus, together creating 86% of total imports. Greece (X tons) held a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Slovakia (with a CAGR of +45.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported radar apparatus in the European Union, comprising 30% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by France ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany amounted to +11.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: France (+12.8% per year) and Italy (+18.4% per year).

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 36%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then dropped in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Greece ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
