Radiator Market Size in the EU

In 2022, the EU radiator market increased by 1.9% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, recorded a slight decrease. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, radiator production declined to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production saw a perceptible curtailment. In 2022, the amount of radiators for central heating (not electrically heated) exported in the European Union contracted rapidly to X tons, with a decrease of -24.5% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 13%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, radiator exports dropped to $X in 2022. In general, exports saw a slight decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The shipments of the six major exporters of radiators for central heating (not electrically heated), namely Poland, Germany, Belgium, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Italy, represented more than two-thirds of total export. It was distantly followed by Hungary (X tons), mixing up a 6% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +0.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 16% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+4.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

After six years of growth, supplies from abroad of radiators for central heating (not electrically heated) decreased by -13.7% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 13% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then fell in the following year.

While the share of Germany (+2.9 p.p.), Sweden (+1.7 p.p.) and Hungary (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Poland (-1.6 p.p.), Austria (-1.8 p.p.) and France (-2.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X), France ($X) and Belgium ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 45% of total imports. The Netherlands, Romania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Italy, Sweden, Ireland, Hungary, Austria and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 43%.

Sweden, with a CAGR of +6.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 7.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the import price increased by 11%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per ton), while Romania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
