Spain, with a CAGR of +64.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2021, waning by -19.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 551%. In general, imports continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 119% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, Spain ($X), Sweden ($X) and Poland ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 39% of total imports. Belgium, Italy, France, Austria, Germany, Ireland, Estonia and Bulgaria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 37%.

Ireland, with a CAGR of +81.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, falling by -49.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 107% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while Bulgaria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
