For the seventh year in a row, the EU market for raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 2% to $X in 2022. Portugal (X tons) ranked third in terms of total production with an 8.8% share.

In Poland, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry production expanded at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Spain (+13.2% per year) and Portugal (+25.1% per year).

The average raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry yield stood at X tons per ha in 2022, increasing by 2.8% against 2021. The yield figure increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the yield increased by 22% against the previous year. As a result, the yield attained the peak level of X tons per ha. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry yield remained at a lower figure. Despite the increased use of modern agricultural techniques and methods, future yield figures may still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.

In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -16.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a slight curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 8.8%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Sweden ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+7.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry imports expanded significantly to X tons in 2022, increasing by 13% against the year before. Overall, imports posted a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry imports shrank to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 33%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell slightly in the following year.

In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and Spain ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 65% share of total imports. France, Poland, Italy, Austria and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.

Poland, with a CAGR of +40.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -13.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 13% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Belgium ($X per ton) and Austria ($X per ton), while Spain ($X per ton) and Italy ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
