The total production indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -5.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the production volume increased by 25%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2021 to 2022, production growth remained at a lower figure.
Poland (X tons) remains the largest raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry producing country in the European Union, comprising approx. 49% of total volume. Moreover, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry production in Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Spain (X tons), twofold. Portugal (X tons) ranked third in terms of total production with an 8.8% share.
In Poland, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry production expanded at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Spain (+13.2% per year) and Portugal (+25.1% per year).
The average raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry yield stood at X tons per ha in 2022, increasing by 2.8% against 2021. The yield figure increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the yield increased by 22% against the previous year. As a result, the yield attained the peak level of X tons per ha. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry yield remained at a lower figure. Despite the increased use of modern agricultural techniques and methods, future yield figures may still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.
In 2022, approx. X ha of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries were harvested in the European Union; reducing by -3.8% against the previous year. The harvested area increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 12%. Over the period under review, the harvested area dedicated to raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry production reached the peak figure at X ha in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

Exports in the EU
In 2022, exports of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries in the European Union amounted to X tons, picking up by 4.7% on 2021. Overall, exports posted a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 25%. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry exports shrank to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 25%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Spain (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the largest exporters of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries in the European Union, together constituting 67% of total exports. Poland (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Portugal (X tons). All these countries together took near 19% share of total exports. France (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Sweden (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Portugal (with a CAGR of +25.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Spain ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Portugal ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 79% of total exports.
Portugal, with a CAGR of +21.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -16.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a slight curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 8.8%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while Sweden ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+7.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in the EU
Raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry imports expanded significantly to X tons in 2022, increasing by 13% against the year before. Overall, imports posted a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry imports shrank to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 33%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell slightly in the following year.
Imports by Country
The Netherlands (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Spain (X tons) represented roughly 65% of total imports in 2022. France (X tons) held a 7.9% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Poland (5.4%). The following importers - Italy (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) - together made up 10% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Spain (with a CAGR of +41.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and Spain ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 65% share of total imports. France, Poland, Italy, Austria and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.
Poland, with a CAGR of +40.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by -13.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 13% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Belgium ($X per ton) and Austria ($X per ton), while Spain ($X per ton) and Italy ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+7.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
