In 2022, the Netherlands (X tons), distantly followed by Bulgaria (X tons), Spain (X tons), Poland (X tons), Germany (X tons) and France (X tons) represented the key exporters of safflower seed, together creating 91% of total exports. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 125%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, safflower seed imports totaled $X in 2022. Total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +44.0% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 152% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
