In France, salicylic acid exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+4.3% per year) and the Netherlands (+13.1% per year).

Germany was the key importer of salicylic acid and its salts in the European Union, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was near 37% of total imports in 2021. Italy (X tons) took a 9.8% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the Netherlands (9.4%), Spain (8.9%), Denmark (8.9%), Sweden (7.8%), Poland (5.5%) and France (4.7%).

In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported salicylic acid and its salts in the European Union, comprising 35% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Germany amounted to +2.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Italy (+2.7% per year) and the Netherlands (+8.8% per year).
