The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 10% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 9.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Germany totaled +3.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Czech Republic (+22.9% per year) and the Netherlands (+4.8% per year).

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, iron or steel sanitary ware imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +73.6% against 2015 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

These countries were followed by the Czech Republic, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Bulgaria and Romania, which together accounted for a further 44%.

Bulgaria, with a CAGR of +17.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 4.8% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 5.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while Bulgaria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
