In value terms, self-propelled railway coach exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Austria (X tons) and Poland (X tons) represented roughly 66% of total exports in 2021. Germany (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 14% share, followed by the Czech Republic (7.7%). Spain (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Bulgaria (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Bulgaria (with a CAGR of +19.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest self-propelled railway coach supplying countries in the European Union were Austria ($X), Poland ($X) and Germany ($X), together accounting for 80% of total exports. These countries were followed by the Czech Republic, Spain, Italy and Bulgaria, which together accounted for a further 18%.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 73% against the previous year. In 2021, Austria (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) was the largest importer of railway or tramway coaches (self-propelled) in the European Union, making up 62% of total import. Sweden (X tons) took a 7.2% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Poland (4.7%). Slovenia (X tons), Bulgaria (X tons), Italy (X tons), Romania (X tons), Belgium (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Slovenia (with a CAGR of +178.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest self-propelled railway coach importing markets in the European Union were Austria ($X), Germany ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), together accounting for 71% of total imports. Sweden, Slovenia, Poland, Bulgaria, Italy, Belgium, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.
Slovenia, with a CAGR of +212.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while Romania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
