Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, semiconductor thyristor exports expanded sharply to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +22.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 21%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In 2022, Germany (X units) represented the major exporter of semiconductor thyristors, diacs and triacs, mixing up 49% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Slovakia (X units) and Hungary (X units), together achieving a 29% share of total exports. France (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Poland (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Belgium (X units) and Italy (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to semiconductor thyristor exports from Germany stood at +15.2%. At the same time, Slovakia (+74.5%), the Czech Republic (+39.6%), Belgium (+29.2%), Poland (+28.6%), Hungary (+13.9%) and the Netherlands (+2.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Slovakia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +74.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, France (-3.0%) and Italy (-3.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Slovakia (+16 p.p.), Germany (+10 p.p.), the Czech Republic (+3.3 p.p.), Poland (+2 p.p.) and Hungary (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of the Netherlands (-3.2 p.p.), Italy (-5.7 p.p.) and France (-15.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest semiconductor thyristor supplier in the European Union, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Hungary ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Germany amounted to +5.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Hungary (+4.5% per year) and France (-2.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -2.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the export price increased by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while Slovakia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+7.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the third consecutive year, the European Union recorded growth in purchases abroad of semiconductor thyristors, diacs and triacs, which increased by 46% to X units in 2022. In general, imports recorded a resilient increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, semiconductor thyristor imports soared to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +87.5% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Germany represented the major importing country with an import of around X units, which recorded 43% of total imports. Belgium (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 8.3% share, followed by Italy (7.9%), Slovakia (7.6%), France (7%) and Spain (4.8%). Poland (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Finland (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Romania (X units), Hungary (X units) and Denmark (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to semiconductor thyristor imports into Germany stood at +14.0%. At the same time, Belgium (+44.9%), Slovakia (+30.3%), Finland (+28.2%), Italy (+19.5%), Romania (+13.4%), Poland (+12.9%), Spain (+11.3%), the Czech Republic (+6.3%) and the Netherlands (+5.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belgium emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +44.9% from 2012-2022. France, Denmark and Hungary experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Germany, Belgium, Slovakia, Italy and Finland increased by +9.5, +7.7, +6.1, +4.1 and +2.1 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The second position in the ranking was held by Belgium ($X), with a 9.4% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with an 8.5% share.
In Germany, semiconductor thyristor imports increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+38.8% per year) and Italy (+9.6% per year).

Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 8.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per unit), while Slovakia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
