The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +69.0% against 2017 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, silicon dioxide exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +83.1% against 2015 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, overseas purchases of silicon dioxide were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 15%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2021, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
