In value terms, mineral wool exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Poland (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the major exporters of slag wool, rock wool and similar mineral wools and mixtures in the European Union, together mixing up 39% of total exports. Croatia (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by the Netherlands (X tons), Slovenia (X tons), Spain (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and France (X tons). All these countries together held near 43% share of total exports.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 4.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The purchases of the three major importers of slag wool, rock wool and similar mineral wools and mixtures, namely Italy, France and Germany, represented more than third of total import. Austria (X tons) held a 7.1% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Sweden (6.3%), Romania (5.4%), Poland (5.3%) and the Czech Republic (4.5%). The following importers - Belgium (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Finland (X tons), Latvia (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) - together made up 16% of total imports.

Austria, Belgium, Sweden, Poland, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, Finland and Latvia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 45%.

Hungary, with a CAGR of +11.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the import price increased by 7.3%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Latvia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
