Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 6%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, soups exports expanded to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 9.1% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Spain (X tons), followed by the Netherlands (X tons), Germany (X tons), Poland (X tons), Italy (X tons), France (X tons), Portugal (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) represented the largest exporters of soups and broths, together committing 83% of total exports. Hungary (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Portugal (with a CAGR of +11.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest soups supplying countries in the European Union were Germany ($X), Spain ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), together comprising 40% of total exports. Poland, Italy, Slovakia, Belgium, France, Portugal and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 41%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Portugal, with a CAGR of +8.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 5.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 7.6% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+1.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in the EU
In 2021, purchases abroad of soups and broths decreased by -0.7% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 9.5% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, soups imports stood at $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 7.6% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the four major importers of soups and broths, namely Germany, France, the Netherlands and Belgium, represented more than half of total import. Sweden (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Spain (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 12% share of total imports. The following importers - Italy (X tons), Poland (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Austria (X tons), Ireland (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and Denmark (X tons) - together made up 17% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for France (with a CAGR of +4.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), France ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 48% of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, France, with a CAGR of +5.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 1.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the import price increased by 5.5%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.
