The EU hand stamp market declined to $X in 2022, which is down by -9% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

It was distantly followed by the Netherlands (X units), Italy (X units), Romania (X units), Spain (X units), Germany (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units), together mixing up a 42% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to hand stamp exports from Austria stood at -2.4%. At the same time, Romania (+79.8%), Spain (+9.4%), Italy (+3.8%) and the Czech Republic (+1.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, Austria ($X) remains the largest hand stamp supplier in the European Union, comprising 47% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 9.9% share.

In Austria, hand stamp exports declined by an average annual rate of -3.7% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Netherlands (+2.6% per year) and Germany (-1.4% per year).

In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -7% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 14% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then reduced in the following year.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The purchases of the five major importers of stamps for use in the hand, namely Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, France and Poland, represented more than two-thirds of total import.
