Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by 31%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+7.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2021, straight saw blade imports in the European Union dropped slightly to X tons, which is down by -1.6% against 2020 figures. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 25%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, straight saw blade imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 31% against the previous year. In value terms, the largest straight saw blade importing markets in the European Union were the Netherlands ($X), Germany ($X) and Belgium ($X), together accounting for 50% of total imports. France, Sweden, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Poland, Greece, Slovakia and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.

Greece, with a CAGR of +17.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 22% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while Greece ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
