In 2022, shipments abroad of suspension systems increased by 0.3% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 17%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, suspension system exports rose to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 22% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Germany (X tons) was the major exporter of suspension systems, constituting 32% of total exports. Poland (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by the Czech Republic (X tons), Spain (X tons), France (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 52% share of total exports. Belgium (X tons) took a little share of total exports.
Germany experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of suspension systems. At the same time, the Czech Republic (+9.3%), Poland (+7.7%), Slovakia (+5.3%) and Spain (+1.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Czech Republic emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +9.3% from 2012-2022. Belgium and France experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Poland (+5.4 p.p.) and the Czech Republic (+5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Spain (-1.6 p.p.), Belgium (-1.8 p.p.), France (-3.2 p.p.) and Germany (-8.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest suspension system supplier in the European Union, comprising 40% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Spain, with a 9.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany amounted to +3.5%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+10.7% per year) and Spain (+2.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, flattening at the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 8.5%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+3.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of suspension systems imported in the European Union rose rapidly to X tons, growing by 5.4% on 2021. Total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +20.4% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 14%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, suspension system imports rose slightly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +27.7% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Germany (X tons) was the main importer of suspension systems, generating 31% of total imports. Poland (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 12% share, followed by Slovakia (6.8%), Spain (6.7%), France (6.6%), the Czech Republic (6.2%), Belgium (6.1%) and Italy (5.4%).
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to suspension system imports into Germany stood at +7.0%. At the same time, Poland (+10.3%), Slovakia (+6.0%), Italy (+5.5%), the Czech Republic (+4.8%), Belgium (+1.2%), Spain (+1.0%) and France (+1.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +10.3% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Poland and Germany increased by +4.2 and +3.3 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then fell slightly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
