The level of production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, overseas shipments of synthetic rubber (excluding latex) increased by 15% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, synthetic rubber (excluding latex) exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a slight setback. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the four major exporters of synthetic rubber (excluding latex), namely Belgium, Germany, France and Poland, represented more than two-thirds of total export. The Netherlands (X tons) took a 9% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by the Czech Republic (8.7%) and Spain (5.3%).

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +12.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Belgium ($X), Germany ($X) and France ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together comprising 58% of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic and Spain, which together accounted for a further 33%.

Among the main exporting countries, the Netherlands, with a CAGR of +10.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 31% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced reduction. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (-2.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in the EU

In 2021, supplies from abroad of synthetic rubber (excluding latex) was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, synthetic rubber (excluding latex) imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a perceptible decrease. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of synthetic rubber (excluding latex) imports in 2021 were Germany (X tons), Belgium (X tons), Poland (X tons), Italy (X tons), France (X tons), Spain (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Hungary (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Romania (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and Portugal (X tons), together accounting for 93% of total import.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Romania (with a CAGR of +6.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Belgium ($X) and Poland ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 44% of total imports. These countries were followed by Italy, France, Spain, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Portugal, which together accounted for a further 49%.

Among the main importing countries, Romania, with a CAGR of +1.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a perceptible descent. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in the Netherlands ($X per ton) and Italy ($X per ton), while Slovakia ($X per ton) and Poland ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (-2.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
