For the third consecutive year, the EU t-shirt market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 13% to $X in 2022. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. It was distantly followed by the Netherlands (X units), Germany (X units) and Belgium (X units), together committing a 27% share of total exports. The following exporters - Poland (X units), Portugal (X units), Slovakia (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) - together made up 9.2% of total exports.

Spain was also the fastest-growing in terms of the t-shirts exports, with a CAGR of +44.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the Netherlands (+30.6%), Poland (+26.3%), the Czech Republic (+23.2%), Slovakia (+18.9%), Germany (+16.2%), Belgium (+10.1%) and Portugal (+8.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Spain and the Netherlands increased by +43 and +4.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Spain ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 48% share of total exports. Belgium, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.

Poland, with a CAGR of +15.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, falling by -58.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price faced a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 7.5%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Portugal ($X per unit), while Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Italy (X units) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 15% share, followed by Belgium (11%). The following importers - the Netherlands (X units) and France (X units) - together made up 6.7% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +17.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported t-shirts in the European Union, comprising 32% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Spain ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany stood at +2.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Spain (+4.0% per year) and Italy (+4.2% per year).
