In 2022, overseas shipments of table, kitchen or household articles of cast iron decreased by -1.7% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +78.3% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 27%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then declined modestly in the following year.
In value terms, cast iron household articles exports shrank to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
Exports by Country
In 2022, France (X tons) represented the main exporter of table, kitchen or household articles of cast iron, comprising 40% of total exports. The Netherlands (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Germany (X tons) and Spain (X tons). All these countries together took near 48% share of total exports. The following exporters - Belgium (X tons) and Austria (X tons) - together made up 5.1% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Austria (with a CAGR of +43.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($X), Germany ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together comprising 79% of total exports. Spain, Belgium and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 12%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Austria, with a CAGR of +45.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, waning by -10.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a slight expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the export price increased by 26% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+3.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in the EU
In 2022, approx. X tons of table, kitchen or household articles of cast iron were imported in the European Union; picking up by 3.5% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 41%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, cast iron household articles imports declined modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 58%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Portugal (with a CAGR of +28.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and France ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 62% share of total imports. Belgium, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Denmark, the Czech Republic and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.
Portugal, with a CAGR of +29.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -6.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 24% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per ton), while Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+2.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
