In 2022, approx. X units of teleferics, chair-lifts, ski-draglines and traction mechanisms for funiculars were exported in the European Union; surging by 5.6% against the year before. Overall, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 56%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, teleferics and chair-lifts exports expanded markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 62% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Austria represented the largest exporter of teleferics, chair-lifts, ski-draglines and traction mechanisms for funiculars in the European Union, with the volume of exports amounting to X units, which was approx. 53% of total exports in 2022. Italy (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 25% share, followed by France (11%). The following exporters - Slovakia (X units), Sweden (X units) and the Netherlands (X units) - together made up 9% of total exports.
Austria experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of teleferics, chair-lifts, ski-draglines and traction mechanisms for funiculars. At the same time, Sweden (+38.3%), France (+25.4%) and Slovakia (+24.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Sweden emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +38.3% from 2012-2022. The Netherlands experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Italy (-2.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of France, Sweden and Slovakia increased by +9.6, +3.5 and +3.1 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Austria ($X) remains the largest teleferics and chair-lifts supplier in the European Union, comprising 50% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 24% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 19% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Austria totaled -1.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Italy (+0.9% per year) and France (+41.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 17% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while Sweden ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+12.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Teleferics And Chair-Lifts Imports
Imports in the EU
After four years of growth, purchases abroad of teleferics, chair-lifts, ski-draglines and traction mechanisms for funiculars decreased by -39.4% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a tangible expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2021, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, teleferics and chair-lifts imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
France (X units), Germany (X units), Sweden (X units), Finland (X units) and Italy (X units) represented roughly 74% of total imports in 2022. The Netherlands (X units) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Slovakia (X units) and Spain (X units). All these countries together took approx. 15% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Finland (with a CAGR of +40.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Sweden ($X), Italy ($X) and France ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 62% share of total imports. Finland, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Spain and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 23%.
The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +57.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 132% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while Germany ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+19.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
