In 2022, overseas shipments of timers increased by 0.3% to X units, rising for the third year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, timer exports rose to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Slovenia (X units) and Italy (X units) were the largest exporters of timers in 2022, reaching near 28% and 22% of total exports, respectively. Poland (X units) took a 13% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by France (13%) and the Netherlands (8.7%). Greece (X units) and Belgium (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Greece (with a CAGR of +54.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Poland ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 85% of total exports. Italy, Slovenia, Belgium and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 4.6%.
Greece, with a CAGR of +39.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2022, picking up by 3% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 27%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while Slovenia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovenia (+4.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in the EU
In 2022, approx. X units of timers were imported in the European Union; with a decrease of -11.3% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 53% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, timer imports soared to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +56.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 61% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Slovenia (X units) and Italy (X units) were the main importers of timers in 2022, accounting for near 25% and 17% of total imports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Poland (X units), the Netherlands (X units), Estonia (X units) and Belgium (X units), together comprising a 28% share of total imports. Finland (X units), Hungary (X units), Spain (X units), Denmark (X units), Romania (X units), Germany (X units) and France (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Estonia (with a CAGR of +50.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest timer importing markets in the European Union were Spain ($X), Italy ($X) and France ($X), with a combined 50% share of total imports. Poland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Romania, Denmark, Slovenia, Finland and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.
Estonia, with a CAGR of +45.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2022, jumping by 40% against the previous year. Import price indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 60%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per unit), while Slovenia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
