Exports by Country
The shipments of the four major exporters of tools of wood, namely Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and Slovakia, represented more than half of total export. It was distantly followed by Poland (X tons) and Germany (X tons), together mixing up a 13% share of total exports. The following exporters - Belgium (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Romania (X tons), Spain (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Slovenia (X tons) and Austria (X tons) - together made up 20% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +50.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Italy ($X) remains the largest wood tool supplier in the European Union, comprising 24% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Slovakia, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Italy totaled +10.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Germany (+1.9% per year) and Slovakia (+6.1% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per ton), while Portugal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

For the eighth consecutive year, the European Union recorded growth in supplies from abroad of tools of wood, which increased by 3.3% to X tons in 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 16% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

It was distantly followed by the Netherlands (X tons) and Belgium (X tons), together creating a 12% share of total imports. Poland (X tons), Austria (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Italy (X tons), Romania (X tons), Portugal (X tons), Sweden (X tons) and Slovakia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In value terms, the largest wood tool importing markets in the European Union were Germany ($X), France ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 58% share of total imports. Austria, Belgium, Poland, the Czech Republic, Italy, Sweden, Portugal, Slovakia and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.
Poland, with a CAGR of +10.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, growing by 14% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per ton), while Romania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
