The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +87.2% against 2012 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 12%. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, tooth brush exports amounted to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +108.2% against 2012 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Germany dominates exports structure, resulting at X units, which was approx. 54% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Hungary (X units), Ireland (X units) and the Netherlands (X units), together mixing up an 18% share of total exports. Austria (X units), Belgium (X units), Sweden (X units), Italy (X units), Poland (X units), Spain (X units) and the Czech Republic (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to tooth brush exports from Germany stood at +6.2%. At the same time, Hungary (+29.4%), Austria (+27.7%), the Netherlands (+21.2%), Spain (+13.3%), Poland (+8.4%), Sweden (+6.9%) and Belgium (+5.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +29.4% from 2012-2022. Ireland experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Italy (-1.1%) and the Czech Republic (-2.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Hungary (+6.5 p.p.), the Netherlands (+3.4 p.p.) and Austria (+3.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of the Czech Republic (-3 p.p.), Italy (-3.8 p.p.) and Ireland (-6.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest tooth brush supplier in the European Union, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Hungary, with a 7.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Germany stood at +6.4%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+20.3% per year) and Hungary (+24.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -7.1% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 14%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then shrank in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while Austria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +79.8% against 2013 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Moreover, Hungary emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +26.9% from 2012-2022. Hungary (+6.5 p.p.), Germany (+3.8 p.p.) and the Netherlands (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while the Czech Republic, Italy and France saw its share reduced by -1.7%, -3% and -4.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
