Truck Market Size in the EU

The EU truck market totaled $X in 2022, stabilizing at the previous year. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The shipments of the five major exporters of trucks, namely Italy, France, Poland, Germany and Spain, represented more than two-thirds of total export. In terms of the main exporting countries, Poland, with a CAGR of +7.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 2.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the export price increased by 4.9% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 20%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

France (X units) and Germany (X units) represented roughly 39% of total imports in 2022. Italy (X units) held an 8% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Spain (7.4%), Belgium (7%), Poland (5.7%) and the Netherlands (5.6%). Sweden (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Denmark (X units), Portugal (X units), Ireland (X units) and Romania (X units) took a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Spain (with a CAGR of +12.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, remaining stable against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 7.5%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while Portugal ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
