As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, vacuum pump exports amounted to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 21%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Germany represented the main exporter of vacuum pumps in the European Union, with the volume of exports recording X units, which was approx. 41% of total exports in 2022. Italy (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by France (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and Hungary (X units). All these countries together took near 46% share of total exports. Belgium (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Germany increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Belgium (+25.2%), the Czech Republic (+25.0%), Hungary (+17.6%) and the Netherlands (+14.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belgium emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +25.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Italy (-1.0%) and France (-6.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Hungary and Belgium increased by +6.7, +4.1, +3.7 and +2.8 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest vacuum pump supplier in the European Union, comprising 45% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany stood at +1.5%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (+0.3% per year) and France (+0.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2022, dropping by -17.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2021, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per unit), while Hungary ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+6.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. X units of vacuum pumps were imported in the European Union; waning by -15.8% against 2021. Total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +60.3% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
In value terms, vacuum pump imports declined to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +29.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, leveling off in the following year.
Imports by Country
Germany (X units) and Italy (X units) were the major importers of vacuum pumps in 2022, recording near 25% and 17% of total imports, respectively. France (X units) took an 8.7% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Poland (8%) and Hungary (7.4%). The Netherlands (X units), Spain (X units), Belgium (X units), Austria (X units), Slovakia (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Romania (X units) and Ireland (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Ireland (with a CAGR of +28.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported vacuum pumps in the European Union, comprising 26% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by France ($X), with a 9.8% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 9.4% share.
In Germany, vacuum pump imports increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: France (+0.4% per year) and the Netherlands (+7.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 18% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
