Germany represented the main exporter of wheat and meslin flour in the European Union, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 34% of total exports in 2022. Belgium (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Italy (X tons), France (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Slovakia (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons). By contrast, Spain (-2.1%), Belgium (-4.9%) and France (-10.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Germany (+10 p.p.), Italy (+7.3 p.p.) and the Netherlands (+2.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Belgium and France saw its share reduced by -7.5% and -13.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and Belgium ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 56% share of total exports.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Italy, with a CAGR of +16.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 21% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while Slovakia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+4.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

At the same time, Spain (+12.6%), Portugal (+6.4%), Poland (+6.3%), Slovakia (+6.1%), the Czech Republic (+5.8%), Romania (+5.7%), Ireland (+5.6%), France (+3.5%) and Austria (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), France ($X) and Ireland ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 45% of total imports. Spain, Romania, Belgium, Poland, Germany, Portugal, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 43%.
Spain, with a CAGR of +13.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per ton in 2022, rising by 14% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while Slovakia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
