In 2022, the export price in the European Union amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 15% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 7%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, whole fresh milk imports soared to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

Germany represented the key importer of whole fresh milk in the European Union, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was approx. 34% of total imports in 2022.
