The EU wind powered generator market plummeted to $X in 2021, reducing by -86.4% against the previous year. In general, consumption showed a pronounced decline. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2020, and then fell markedly in the following year.

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of wind powered generating sets, when their volume decreased by -18% to X units. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, wind powered generator exports fell dramatically to $X in 2021. In general, exports recorded a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Spain prevails in exports structure, amounting to X units, which was approx. 54% of total exports in 2021. The Czech Republic (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 9.8% share, followed by Belgium (9.2%), Greece (7%) and Poland (4.6%). The following exporters - Denmark (X units) and Germany (X units) - each finished at a 5.6% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to wind powered generator exports from Spain stood at +9.0%. At the same time, Poland (+41.7%) and Belgium (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +41.7% from 2012-2021. Denmark experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the Czech Republic (-7.2%), Greece (-10.2%) and Germany (-48.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Spain, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Greece, Poland and Denmark increased by +52, +8.6, +8.3, +5.6, +4.6 and +2.6 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, the largest wind powered generator supplying countries in the European Union were Germany ($X), Denmark ($X) and Spain ($X), together accounting for 96% of total exports. Greece, Belgium, Poland and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 1.1%.
Poland, with a CAGR of +24.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2021, falling by -6.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 908%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the Czech Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+89.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in the EU
In 2021, purchases abroad of wind powered generating sets decreased by -52.4% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports continue to indicate a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 321%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, wind powered generator imports shrank rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a slight slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 112%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2020, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
Imports by Country
Croatia was the largest importing country with an import of about X units, which accounted for 48% of total imports. Greece (X units) held a 20% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by France (11%), Spain (8.6%) and Belgium (5.9%). The Netherlands (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to wind powered generator imports into Croatia stood at -18.2%. At the same time, the Netherlands (+27.3%), Spain (+18.7%), Belgium (+17.9%), France (+16.1%) and Greece (+11.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Netherlands emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +27.3% from 2012-2021. Greece (+17 p.p.), France (+10 p.p.), Spain (+8.1 p.p.), Belgium (+5.5 p.p.) and the Netherlands (+3.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Croatia saw its share reduced by -43.2% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, the largest wind powered generator importing markets in the European Union were Greece ($X), France ($X) and Belgium ($X), with a combined 24% share of total imports.
Belgium, with a CAGR of +20.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the European Union amounted to $X per unit, surging by 33% against the previous year. Overall, the import price enjoyed buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 3,688%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while Croatia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Croatia (+18.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
