In 2022, overseas shipments of wooden furniture for kitchens decreased by -33.8% to X units, falling for the fourth consecutive year after four years of growth. In general, exports showed a perceptible contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, wooden kitchen furniture exports fell slightly to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 22% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then fell modestly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Germany represented the largest exporting country with an export of about X units, which finished at 45% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Italy (X units), Spain (X units), Poland (X units) and Denmark (X units), together creating a 40% share of total exports. Portugal (X units), Sweden (X units) and France (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to wooden kitchen furniture exports from Germany stood at -5.2%. At the same time, Poland (+13.2%), Portugal (+10.2%) and Spain (+5.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Poland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of +13.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Denmark (-4.6%), Italy (-6.5%), France (-7.7%) and Sweden (-8.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest wooden kitchen furniture supplier in the European Union, comprising 53% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Denmark, with a 6.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Germany totaled +3.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Italy (+3.4% per year) and Denmark (+5.6% per year).

The export price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 49% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a prominent expansion. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per unit), while Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +35.4% against 2013 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last decade. The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +12.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -2.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 25%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Luxembourg ($X per unit) and Spain ($X per unit), while Portugal ($X per unit) and Denmark ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Luxembourg (+2.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
