From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Lithuania (with a CAGR of +45.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest wooden particle board supplier in the European Union, comprising 48% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Greece, with a 7.7% share.

Export price indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, wooden particle board export price increased by +86.4% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per cubic meter), while Belgium ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

Wooden particle board imports declined markedly to X cubic meters in 2021, falling by -19.3% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 6.2%. The volume of import peaked at X cubic meters in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, wooden particle board imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, France (X cubic meters), Greece (X cubic meters) and Denmark (X cubic meters) represented the major importer of wooden particle board in the European Union, constituting 58% of total import. The Netherlands (X cubic meters) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Sweden (X cubic meters), Latvia (X cubic meters) and Austria (X cubic meters). All these countries together held near 28% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Latvia (with a CAGR of +43.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest wooden particle board importing markets in the European Union were France ($X), Austria ($X) and Greece ($X), together accounting for 52% of total imports. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per cubic meter), while Denmark ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+7.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
